Where are archived Cowork chats?

Reddit · Silvestre074 · July 15, 2026
I archived some chats on claude cowork (nowadays proyects) - but now I can't find them on my app or my mac. Anyone know where these are? [link]

Detailed Analysis

I don't have enough verified information to write a substantive analysis of this piece. The "article" is a brief, unanswered Reddit forum post from r/ClaudeAI in which a user asks where their archived "Cowork" chats went after Anthropic apparently renamed or transitioned that feature to "Projects." No research context was provided to corroborate details about this product name change, the archiving mechanism, or how Anthropic's chat storage and sync architecture works across the Claude app and desktop clients on macOS.

I want to flag a few things rather than speculate as if they were confirmed facts. First, "Cowork" is not a publicly documented Anthropic product name that I can verify — it's possible this refers to an early codename, a mislabeled feature, a browser extension, or a third-party tool, and without corroborating sources I can't confirm what it actually was or how it relates to Claude's "Projects" feature. Second, questions about local data storage locations, sync behavior between Claude's web app and any Mac client, and how archived (versus deleted) conversations are retained are all implementation details that would require official Anthropic documentation, support articles, or verified reporting to answer accurately — guessing at file paths or sync logic here would risk providing incorrect technical guidance.

What can be said in general terms: Anthropic has iterated fairly quickly on Claude's product surface throughout 2024–2025, including the introduction and evolution of "Projects" as a way to organize related conversations, files, and custom instructions. Feature renames and interface changes during active development are common in fast-moving AI products, and they frequently produce exactly this kind of user confusion — content that existed under an old feature label seemingly disappearing after a rebrand or backend migration, when in fact it has either moved, been deprecated, or requires a different navigation path to access. This pattern isn't unique to Anthropic; it mirrors similar transitions seen across other AI chat products (ChatGPT's evolving "GPTs" and project/canvas features, for instance) where UI reorganization outpaces user documentation.

If this is something you're personally trying to resolve — for instance, if you're the Reddit user or dealing with a similar issue — the reliable path forward would be checking Anthropic's official help center (support.anthropic.com) or contacting Claude support directly, since archived-chat retention and retrieval policies are the kind of account-specific, potentially privacy-sensitive detail that only Anthropic's support team or official documentation can confirm accurately. I'd rather point you toward that authoritative source than risk giving you a confident-sounding but unverified answer about where your data currently lives.
