AI is making me less productive and more distracted

A 12-year web developer found that daily use of Claude Code, while helpful when stuck, created a fragmented workflow of sending prompts, waiting for responses, checking phones, and switching tasks that produced mental exhaustion by day's end. The developer's actual tangible output—commits, finished work, and shipped features—did not increase compared to pre-AI periods and sometimes decreased, despite feeling active throughout the day.
